Notes

  • Make sure the milk is pre-boiled and cold.
  • While mixing the cocoa powder and milk powder, make sure that there are no lumps formed and also make sure that the kadai is not on flame.
  • Melt the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and mix it to make sure that the chocolate has melted evenly.
  • Add condensed milk according to the sweetness of your choice.
  • Instead of oreo cookies, you can even use marie biscuits of any digestive biscuits.
  • Instead of almond, use any other nut of your choice or even a combination of nuts can be used.
  • You can also add some dessicated or fresh coconut. If adding then reduce the amount of powdered cookies or nuts and substitute for the same.
  • After adding the powdered cookies and nuts, do not cook the mixture for long as it results in a dense modak when cooked for a long time.
  • The solid chocolate mixture tends to cook even after transferring to the plate because of the heat. So, do not cook for long. Ideal time to transfer it into a plate would be a few seconds after the mixture comes together.
  • If you do not have a mould to make the modaks, then shape it by hand.
